Ok I released a top ten NBA Prospects list on 11-23-11 ( http://brandononsports.com/2011/11/23/my-top-ten-nba-prospects-in-college-basketball/ ) and it had sparked a lot of conversation on twitter and facebook about the top players in the college game. Here is my updated list, and I will try to keep my rankings fresh every 4-6 weeks:
1. Perry Jones III 6-11 235lbs PF/SF Baylor So. : Can score from pretty much anywhere on the court, in various ways. Is a matchup nightmare because of his versatility. He is the real deal. Can also rebound, block shots and defend.
2. Harrison Barnes 6-8 220lbs SF North Carolina So. : Is probably the safest choice of any underclassmen in this draft, Barnes is a knock down shooter, willing and able defender, and hard worker. Also has some game with his back to the basket as well. He is a team player, but I would like to see him be more aggressive with all of the talent he has.
3. Jeremy Lamb 6-5 185lbs SG UConn So. : I say this all the time, but Lamb reminds me of a mix between Kerry Kittles and Eddie Jones. Is extremely long and athletic and he uses those traits to be a hassle defensively. Is a solid shooter from the outside, works good coming off on screens catching and shooting as well. Isn’t afraid to take it to the basket with his thin frame.
4. Anthony Davis PF/SF/C 6-10 220lbs Kentucky Fr. : Is probably the best shot blocker in all of college hoops. He is a defensive game changer, and a good rebounder on both ends of the floor. Had a late growth spurt and is still getting used to his height, but he still has the guard skills from when he was smaller. Plenty of untapped potential as his body will fill out as he gets older.
5. Jared Sullinger PF/C 6-8 275lbs Ohio St. So. : Has a grown man’s game even though he is only a Sophomore. Uses his strong lower body to carve out space in the paint and prevent his shots from being blocked. Is a better mid-range shooter then given credit for and will be a solid pro for years.
6. Andre Drummond C/PF 6-11 275lbs UConn Fr. : Is averaging 10.3 ppg, 7.3 rpg, and 2.7 bpg in just 27 minutes per game. Is number one on a lot of prospect boards, but I have at six on mines. Is a freak of a athelte, Dwight Howard type I’m talking, but his offensive game needs polishing and will need playing time to raise his basketball I.Q. Could turnout to be a legit star center in the NBA, if he puts in the work.
7. Thomas Robinson PF/SF 6-8 240lbs Kansas Jr. : Is a freak athlete, great offensive rebounder and can defend both forward positions. If he ever gets a go to move in the post and a jump shot in the 10-15 feet ramge, he could be a star.
8. Terrence Jones PF/SF 6-8 250lbs Kentucky So. : Is going to be a combo forward in the NBA. Has the ability to stretch the defense because of his outside shooting. Is a lefty, but really needs to work on his off hand. He is a willing defender and a pretty good shot blocker as well.
9. Micheal Kidd-Gilchrist SF/SG 6-6 215lbs Kentucky Fr. : Shows up and plays his best against top competition every time. He defends, rebounds, goes to the hole, and goes hard at all times. He backs down from no one and I love that about him. His game is still raw, but he has soo much potential.
10. Meyers Leonard C 7-1 245lbs Illinois So. : Has risen up the draft boards this season after not seeing much time last season. Is a damn good athlete for his size, has nice touch in the paint and can shoot it from mid range. I personally would like to see him stay in school another year to get stronger and have a bigger body of work, but there is no denying the kid’s skill and potential.

GIlllIE
Nice but I would have my man Harrison at number one (Huge Tar Heel Fan)!
